Confetti

by cwviderkull

There once was a clown
who cried confetti.
Small pieces of paper
would fall from his eyes.

Considered the greatest of tricks
he was invited to perform it
in front of cheering crowds.

Addicted to the fame
he never told anyone
that his heart was made of paper
and that when shredded
it would bleed
in the form of confetti
or that while they were laughing
and clapping their hands
he was recalling
the saddest of memories
to keep the tears flowing.

One evening on stage
he stared at his audience
with eyes wide open
and fell down dead.
There was no more paper
of which to make confetti.

Sledgehammer

The World is a Brick Wall
with Windows and Doors
Painted on
as a Joke.
Realistic
Enough
if you Want it
Enough
have Faith
Enough
to Hope for the Best.
Keep Pounding
they say
your Bloodstains are Progress.

He was born
Sledgehammer in Hand
and was taught to Swing it like a Man.
Use your legs
they said
and pivot round your hip.
Use your legs and pivot round your hip.
Eyes on the Prize on the Other Side.

Instead
he Found
and Picked up
off the Ground
a worn down
dirty
old Paintbrush
and covered his Wall
as far as he could Reach
in thoughtful Writing
Painting Pretty Pictures.

Sometimes he would sit
Alone with his Wall
for hours
staring
Proud of his Work.
No one else ever came there much
and when they did
they said:
Right.
Paint.
Nice.
Now Knock it the Fuck Down.
Your Life awaits on the other side.
Why don’t you use your
Sledgehammer?
